THE PLAN:

At 5:30m on Tuesday, no one was in the theater. Then, at 5:35pm, Jason Downey appeared. He was disappointed that he was alone. At 5:40pm, Mike Eaton arrived. They enthusiastically decided to write something together and perform it. As I try never to curb student enthusiasm (a sometimes rare commodity), we went forward. They were to email me by 6:00pm the next day with title of their piece. The chalkboard says: "Writers: Mike and Jason. Actors: Jason Mike. Directors: Former Secretary of Northern Ireland Reginald Maudling." |

| At 7:30pm, Jason and Mike performed Thoughts That Count,
"a comedy about apathy and how, with time and seemingly sound arguments,
it can be contagious." An audience of 40 students, faculty, staff and
community people watched, laughed, and took photos with their cell phones
to document the performance. |

"I found the performance quite engaging and fun to watch and listen
to. And being engaged in something—I can't offer a higher compliment." |
